The Beauty Essentials You Need For Summer

The Beauty Essentials You Need For Summer

With summer comes a very specific mood and set of weather that will be dictating a unique routine for your makeup and skincare. Here’s my beauty essentials that I just can’t live without (and you shouldn’t, either!):

Summer Beauty Essentials

First, keep your lips moisturized and protected from the sun by using a lip balm with SPF. Two of my favourites are the Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 (SPF 4), and if you’re looking for a tint of colour, try the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Petting Pink (SPF 15).

For those of you with fair completions who want a sun kissed look without the skin damage, the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is a great option for an at-home tan that looks natural and is easy to apply.

Sunscreen is an essential all year round! My favourite cost-friendly option is the Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry Touch Sunscreen. This sunscreen has a light, non-greasy formula that I love. I even use it on my face under my makeup and it doesn’t clog my pores or leave my face looking shiny.

I don’t like to be weighed down with foundation in the summer, so I prefer a light tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone. This one is Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which has SPF 30 and is a wonderful option (though has a very limited shade range). Alternatively, you can easily make your own tinted moisturizer by simply mixing your favourite moisturizer with a bit of foundation.

I love a bright pedi in the summer. My go-to nailpolish colour for my toes has been Barielle’s Blossom, a peachy-coral with a cream finish that stays on great without chipping.

Don’t let the sun dry you out! Lush’s Dream Cream, rich with natural ingredients and essential oils, is my favourite body moisturizer of late.

For those days by the pool or the beach, or even for when you’re just sweating it out on your way to work in the morning, waterproof mascara can keep you from channeling the classic raccoon eye. I like the new Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express mascara in the waterproof formula. I wouldn’t say it’s volumizing, it’s more like a stain for the lashes, which is perfect for a natural, minimalist makeup summer look!

Lastly, Blot Powder, like this one by MAC, is great to take along with you in your bag for touchups during the summer. This powder doesn’t look cakey and keeps the shine at bay. The compact includes a mirror and applicator making it super convenient for on-the-go touchups.

What are your must-have beauty products for the summer months? Have you tried any of these? Let me know in the comments!
