Scary Nail Art: Get Monster Friends on Your Fingers!

Scary Nail Art: Get Monster Friends on Your Fingers!

I love being creative when it comes to nail art, and the great thing about this design is they’re monsters, so you can be as imaginative as you like! I’d like to think of this tutorial as more of a guideline, so seriously, change up the colors, add some spots or maybe even a few stripes. Use your imagination and create your own monster friends to wear on your nails!

Materials
-      Base coat
-      Top coat or nail glue
-      Small googly eyes (I found mine at my local dollar store)
-      5 bright nail polishes (I used yellow, purple, red, green, and orange – feel free to use any colors you want, as long as black will stand out against them)
-      Black nail striper/pen
-      White nail striper/pen
-      Tweezers

Step 1
After applying your base coat, paint each nail a different bright color.

Step 2
Next, apply the googly eyes by using a small glob of nail glue or a clear top coat and tweezers to place them on the glob. I wanted to apply the eyes before the mouths so I would be sure of how big or how small the mouths would have to be. I couldn’t fit two eyes on every nail, so some of my nails became one-eyed monsters!

Step 3
Using a black nail pen or a thin brush, make some mouths for each monster. It’s more fun if you change up the mouth shape for each nail. Be creative!

Step 4
It’s time to add some scary teeth! Again, be creative with the amount of teeth and how sharp they are.

Extra tips
I’d usually tell you to finish with a top coat, but because the googly eyes are 3D it might be harder. If you would prefer to use a top coat, instead of gluing the eyes before the mouth and teeth you could place the eyes down where you want them (without gluing them), and add the mouth and teeth. You could then apply a top coat over the design before gluing the eyes.

If you want to add more character to each nail you could give some of the monsters spots or stripes, tongues, or even blood dripping down their mouths!

Enjoy! Let me know if you try this tutorial or if you have any questions.
