(Not So) Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny (But Still Adorable!) Bikinis

(Not So) Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny (But Still Adorable!) Bikinis

Love the idea that beach trips and poolside tanning are right around the corner, but hate the thought of having to get into a swimsuit for the first time in months? Even for the most confident women, bathing suit shopping can be incredibly frustrating. And with so many stores and clothing lines constantly suggesting that we purchase “sexy” beachwear consisting of sequined push-up bikini tops and pieces of fabric that cover only about 30% of our bottoms, that frustration is entirely understandable.

Thankfully, with the ever-rising popularity of vintage-inspired clothing, more and more retailers have begun to offer some amazing pieces that not only look great, but they won’t leave you feeling as though your assets are fully on display and/or about to fall out.

ModCloth offers loads of retro bikinis and one-piece suits for ladies of all sizes, and with the seemingly endless varieties of colors, prints and styles, there is bound to be something for every woman of every shape. Bonus: many of the pieces are designed by former swimmer, actress and pin-up, and current designer, Esther Williams.

Similar styles can be found at Urban Outfitters and ASOS, and both offer some fantastic separates, including a number of high-waisted bottoms.

J. Crew also carries some options, and has a good selection of specialty sizes.

So while skimpy string bikinis might work for some of us, it’s comforting to see that other, more modest options are out there too –– especially when those options look excellent when paired with a vibrant headscarf and some cat-eye sunglasses.

I am such a fan of Modcloth’s retro inspired bathing suits, but unfortunately they don’t carry my size! Ahh, the struggle continues as a busty girl. I didn’t choose the boob life, the boob life chose me! :’(

So glad they are coming back! I wish every woman would see how much more attractive they are.

I really recommend ASOS! I am a bit bigger then most bikini sizes and ASOS had ones that fit me. They were really cheap too and have free shipping. I received a headpiece that was a bit broken and I fixed it. I emailed them to let them know and they sent me a new one! ASOS is probably my favourite online store, apart from solestruck that is :)
