Nail Friday: Get Some Groovy Stripes!

Nail Friday: Get Some Groovy Stripes!

I’m sorry for using the word “groovy.” It’s one of my least favorite words and just brings to mind really corny parents or teachers. “Isn’t osmosis groovy, kids?!” Bleh. That being said, I couldn’t find another way to accurately convey the 70s-ness that are these stripes without that dorky word. I think it’s something in the color scheme that reminds me of Davy Jones and corduroy mini-skirt times but coincidentally, it’s also an amazing fall palette (in my opinion). Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

I’m using my straight across nail stickers for this tutorial, which is convenient for you guys because they’re just glorified tape. Start by putting on a base coat followed by your lightest color. If you start with a darker color, your lighter or less-pigmented polishes will look like shit. Trust.

Put on some Seche Vite and wait for your nails to dry (15-ish minutes). Next, place your stickers/tape across your nails. You’ll want to be pretty close to the cuticle, but leave some room for another color there. Towards the tip of your nails, there should be room for one full stripe and part of a second stripe.

Paint them nails, yo. Wait about 3 minutes for them to dry and then carefully peel off your stickers/tape.

See, even stickers aren’t always perfect. For the tips, you should really paint on some Seche Vite, wait again, and then use another guide sticker. However, I’m impatient and sloppy so I just free-handed it. It’s not terrible…from far away.

Ta da!!! You hear the “Wonder Years” theme song in your head, don’t you? That’s to be expected. Please contact your doctor if it persists for over 48 hours.

Comment below with suggestions, showers of compliments, and proclamations about how Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help from My Friends” is the best version. Sorry, not sorry, Beatles.
