My Top 4 Fashion Shows Of New York Fashion Week

My Top 4 Fashion Shows Of New York Fashion Week

The dust is finally setting on New York’s Lincoln Center with the aftermath of the bi-annual festivites known as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. While this has been my first year not in attendance since 2008, I made it my duty to watch every live stream and coverage of the shows as closely as possible. I may have not been there physically, but boy was I there in spirit! Here’s my review of the top 4 shows to take note of for the Spring/Summer 2013 season.

1. BCBG Max Azria

This was definitely the show to catch this season! It opened with flowing whites in both soft and sheers, counteracted with dark, leather harnesses. Max Azria quickly introduced bold, black lace and flowing florals. The collection was the perfect mix of feminine and edgy, and by far my favorite.

2. Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff’s show was a lovely mix of dreamy graphic prints (ocean theme is so big, and I’m loving it!), clean white lines, and pretty florals (ombre florals = genius!) Minkoff also toyed with the top color combination for the upcoming season, orange and blue. With the omnipresent spring pastels, the palette was all pretty.

3. Jason Wu

Jason Wu kept things dark for next spring, but chic with lace, laser cuts, and flowing skirts. Definitely playing into the edgy-feminine trend. What’s not to love about this collection?

4. Alice & Olivia

Nothing says fun like an Alice & Olivia Fashion Week presentation. With Stacey Bendet’s favorite DJs setting the ambiance, it was like summer was starting all over. Minty lace, orange accents, and fun, oversized, bold prints made this collection one of the most exciting for next spring.

What do you think of these collections? Would you like to see a recap of London Fashion Week as well? Let us know in the comments!
