I have been alive for 25 years, and for the majority of that time I have been in love with makeup. I would steal eye shadows from the cases of Arbonne cosmetics that my mom used to sell and I’ve watched videos on smoky eyes since before I was 10. It’s been a hobby, a passion, a job and an art form. I. Love. Makeup. The only thing I don’t love? Taking it off.

It’s so important to take your makeup off and wash your face. Usually I end up with pools of black mascara under my eyes and running down my cheeks a la Lauren Conrad on The Hills. So bring on the makeup remover! I have tried a little of everything on the market: oily removers make my face feel claustrophobic and dirty, and liquids get all over and don’t spread easily. And then last year I bought something that has become a staple in my bathroom: Neutrogena’s Eye Makeup Remover Lotion.

It was a huzzah! moment. You don’t need a lot, it takes everything off, and it’s a formula that you can control. It is hydrating and doesn’t sting. The best part? It costs about $7 and lasts forever. I apply to my eye with a cotton pad to remove all the color from the day (or night). To take off that pesky waterproof eyeliner or excess mascara, I put a small amount on a q-tip.
