It is common that when the winter months hit, skin gets dry and flaky. On top of that, there are viruses and colds everywhere, so everyone constantly washes their hands. But we should all take good care of our skin to keep it smooth and moisturized, right? Well, we can try. Let’s be honest though, it’s not always in our pocketbook’s best interest to visit the nail salon every two weeks!
If you’ve got a good body scrub or exfoliant, use it on your hands every so often to get rid of some dead skin. Wash it off with warm – not hot – water. Hot water dries skin out!
Use your best lotion or hand cream. Don’t go with a heavily fragranced lotion, they can sting and will not do much for moisture. Look for one that is thick, healing, and makes your hands super soft. Concentrating on your cuticles and knuckles will keep your hands most noticeable areas looking spiffy. Vaseline has good healing lotions and most stores have comparable generic brands of the same.
Apply cuticle oil around the nails. I absolutely love Solar Oil by CND. This can be used on its own, or after nail polish has dried. It helps to soften cuticles, condition the skin and strengthen the nails. Your hands will feel heavenly!
