As Hannah told you, Downton Abbey is definitely a show you should be watching. However, even if you just can’t seem to get into the period drama drama, there might be one more aspect of the show that will suck you in: the costumes! The costumes on Downton Abbey are gorgeous! But don’t just stop at ogling at them on screen! It’s easy to take the lovely Crawley sisters’ clothes and use them as inspiration for your own, 21st Century wardrobe!
Even when she’s not all dressed up with somewhere to go, Mary still looks so put together. Mirror Mary’s everyday elegance with a soft lace top and classic, well cut skirt in your favorite color (definitely a piece that would be a fun thrift find)! Use some fun hair accessories to get a Mary updo. Mary’s lips are always a beautiful “my lips but better” shade. Find your perfect shade (I’m a fan of Revlon for great consistency and color range), slip on some heels and simple studs and you’re good to go!
I love this outfit on Edith for inspiration for fall! Rock some autumnal fashion like as well with this gold cable dress and orange cardigan. Work a printed coat like Edith in complimenting colors. Don’t forget a hat or headband like this knit one to complete the outfit!
Sybil is definitely the modern and rebellious one of the three: from everything from romance and politics to fashion. Take a cue from her risk-taking nature with some voluminous pants (OMG PANTS)! Add some modern (for this era) accessories like this chevron cuff and color blocked necklace.
