Fatshion for the Rest of Us: Whimsy

Fatshion for the Rest of Us: Whimsy

Fatshion for the Rest of Us will help fat Feminspire femmes trying to channel a certain aesthetic with shopping resources for culling their clothing. If you’re sick of one-shouldered leopard print polyester numbers, look no further! We’ll try to mix it up price-point-wise, as well as some larger stores as well as boutiques, though most resources will be online, as that’s really one of the best ways to access fresh fatshion!

If you’re the type who’s always on Tumblr and Pinterest, whimsy might be your jam. Wish you could spend a day being photographed in a field full of wildflowers while typing on an old school typewriter with a cat in your lap? Whimsy is you, my friend. Do you Instagram almost every cup of coffee you drink, making extra-sure that the novel you’re reading is in the frame? Read on, I think I’ve got you.

LucieLu is one of my favorite indie designers on the web for sure. Their stuff is really great quality and they provide good fit info and a pretty decent range of sizes. They incorporate a lot of lace and floral details into their designs that look very soft and flowy. I’m digging the Reverie Dress, which is both on sale and comes in several different colors! They also have a small accessories page with jewelry to spruce up your outfits.

ModCloth is one of the most accepted names in whimsical clothing/accessories on the web, and they’re working to expand their plus size offerings in the near future, but for now they have a fancy filter for sizes 16 and up, which narrows down their site to what could fit! I’m a fan of the Strawberry Iced Tea dress, which comes in two other colors as well. (Full disclosure: my day job is working for ModCloth!)

Ruche is a smaller website that’s chock full of whimsy and I like that they consistently have a page or two dedicated to whimsical plus stuff. You see a lot of ruffles and soft fabrics here. While I’m personally still a bit torn about high-low hems now, their Island Getaway Dress looks subtle and I love the neckline.

Happy Shopping, and stay tuned for the next installment of the Fatshion For The Rest Of Us series!
