Editor’s Letter: At The Hollywood Farmer’s Market

Editor’s Letter: At The Hollywood Farmer’s Market

Hello, lovely readers!

I have an apology for you guys: I did not have a proper editor’s letter prepared for you. As it’s Labor Day weekend here in the US, I’ve been away from my apartment and staying with a friend (Hallie Jordan, writer of our new Hollywood 101 series!) up in Hollywood (when you live on the west side of LA, going to all the way to Hollywood is a rare treat).

But, I do have something awesome for you guys. Do you like photos? Well, I have lots of pretty, colorful photos.

…okay, I actually took them with my iPhone. I know, you hate me now. *anguish*

This morning I went to the Hollywood Farmer’s Market (which they have every Sunday on Selma/Vine!) with Hallie, my new friend Natalie, and Hallie’s dog, Sausage. I’ve never been a big farmer’s market shopper simply because I don’t like to wake up before 11am and also because my budget can’t justify the expense of organic food (yes, it can justify ASOS sales, don’t judge me). But despite that, I had a lot of fun talking to the local farmers and salespeople and sampling some of the awesome food!

Natalie and Hallie sampling the fresh cheese and milk from Organic Pastures

Dragonfruit! This was the first thing that caught my eye and inspired this photo series. Has anyone ever tried it, is it good?

Hollywood Farmer’s Market, woohoo!

People buying some fresh organic OJ. How cool are they?

Samples, my favorite part.

Sausage is anxious to score some organic cucumbers before the stand closes.

Pretttttty!

MOAR PRETTY!!!

A nice assortment of veggies for sale.

Some local farmers enjoying their wares.

RAW MILK! It’s expensive, but apparently quite good. Had an awesome chat with the people selling it.

And here’s the people behind Organic Pasture‘s milk and milk products! They were super nice and knowledgable.

Hallie and Natalie leaving with their goodies and the Sausage.

Oh hey, it’s me! Here’s the outfit I threw together after I rolled out of bed. Looking pretty hot… it was nearly 90 degrees out.

And bonus picture time, you get to see what Hallie and I enjoyed for breakfast at Cafe Audrey!

Probably the biggest coffee I’ve ever drank.

Sausage gazing hungrily at Hallie’s fruit and yogurt.

So, that was my morning. I leave you with this message: farmer’s markets are pretty cool, and it’s likely that your area has one, so you should check it out! If you live in LA, there’s also a great market every Sunday morning on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Supporting local farmers is awesome, so if you can afford to, do it!

I promise something amazing for you guys next week. In the meantime, keep reading and submitting your thoughts and stores for publication!

Do you shop at farmer’s markets? Leave a comment and share your reasons why!

Love,

Rhiannon
