Yeah, I know — Valentine’s Day is a capitalistic, consumerist holiday, and you should show the person you love that you care about them every day — but there’s nothing wrong with an excuse to get a little dressed up.
No matter what you’re doing this Valentine’s Day, we’ve got the perfect look for you!
The Casual Night Out
Whether you’re keeping it low key with your significant other or casually dining with pals, I’d stick with a flirty skirt, comfy sweater or tee, on-trend ankle booties,or flats. Dress up a little more than usual while still remaining comfortable for whatever deliciousness you decide to indulge in. I love simple floral skirts from Target with a trendy chunky knit from Marshall’s or TJ Maxx.
The Swanky Evening
Dinner with your significant other? Evening out with gals and potential dancing? You’ll want to up the ante a little, and for this I suggest a fun yet sexy dress that will show off your assets in a fashion-forward color and print. Emerald green, chromatic black and white. Also, be sure to add some shimmer or pizazz! Forever 21 and H&M have some great budget-friendly pieces for all shapes and sizes.
The Sex Kitten
If you’re anything like me then you like to go ALL out; I’m talking hair perfectly teased and the perfect sultry ensemble. I suggest you start with your finest skivvies, or a new pair to surprise your S/O with; layer on a form-fitting and accentuating dress along with heels and a cute clutch. Tight dresses from Express and Forever21 are always my go-to’s when I’m trying to up the sexy-factor.
The Night In
So you’re anti-Valentine’s day, either for it’s capitalistic ideals or because you’re unhappy with your love life. If you’re planning a cozy night in with your gal pals, Ben & Jerry’s, and all the Ryan Gosling movies then there’s no reason not to do it in style! Don a clever sweater or tee and some comfy fleece shorts a la Targe’t, and don’t forget your comfiest slippers!
